There once was a Florsheim shoe called “The Exmore,” spelled the exact same way as the town in which I am sitting.
It must have been a good, and good-selling, shoe. I found advertisements from 1920 to 1945. They no longer make them — I looked on the Florsheim website.
It is interesting to me because I’ve never found much else called “Exmore,” and spelled “Exmore.”
There are Exmore-style towels made by a number of manufacturers. Now you know. I had no idea.
But that place in southwest England is spelled “Exmoor.” The Sony camera sensor is spelled “Exmor.”
I doubt there is any link between names of the shoe and town.
But who wouldn’t love to own an old pair of Florsheim Exmores?
